Fibro and me
I am someone who is living with fibromyalgia, and I am happy to share this story and some resources about it.
For many people it may take years to be even diagnosed with fibromyalgia. For me it took ten years. I was tested for so many things that I started to think that I was either a hypochondriac or I must have some rare disorder. As it turns out, all of the symptoms I definitely added up to fibromyalgia. Forturnately, a friend of mine who is a doctor told me to see a rheumatologist. When I met with Dr. Soumya Chatterjee at the Cleveland Clinic, not only was he able to diagnose me, but he put me on a great treatment plan.
A combination of medications, yoga, meditation, stretching exercises and aerobics in shorter spurts worked over a six month period of time to get me to the point of being fully functioning. While I may have occasional setbacks, overall I am so grateful to have a doctor that saw the whole picture.
And that, I think, is the key to my success. I am keeping active and feeling the best I have felt in years now. You can too. I have included here some links that could be helpful to you. I am not a doctor and cannot give medical advice, but I am happy to share the information I have gathered hoping that it will help someone else.
Take good care of yourself. Remember that you should take it easy if you are having a bad day, and if you are having a good day, don't overdo so that you can have many good days ahead.
